To request a Change of Programme, please follow the steps below:
- Seek academic advice from your current Programme Leader or Personal Tutor.
Important – Contact the programme leader of the course that you want to transfer to in order to ensure you meet the entry requirements . Please contact us at adhadvice@dmu.ac.uk should you require any contact details. If you are transferring to a programme which is not part of the Art, Design & Humanities Faculty, please contact the relevant Faculty Advice Centre if you require contact details for the programme leader. - Seek funding advice – Contact our Student Finance & Welfare Team via email sfw@dmu.ac.uk as you may need to study an additional year.
- International students – should seek advice from immigrationcompliance@dmu.ac.uk
- Please be aware – the timeline as outlined in the Academic Regulations. Student regulations and policies (dmu.ac.uk)
- Please note – You may be required to interrupt your studies (leave of absence) or complete your current programme before changing programme. Taking a break from your studies (leave of absence) (dmu.ac.uk)
- Apply online – Complete the change programme request using the following link: DMU Change of Programme Request (office.com)
Once a decision has been confirmed you will be notified via email. Please be aware of any conditions. Please contact the Accepting Programme Leader if you do not receive a response within 4 days. The Student Advice Centre will contact you if no response is received.
International students only: both the Accepting Programme Leader and Immigration Compliance must approve– if a new visa or CAS is required you may need to reapply to change programme at a later date.

Important information when requesting a Change of Programme
Change of Programme request in the first 2 weeks of the Academic Year
Internal transfers are acceptable within the first 2 weeks of the academic year. If you are transferring within the first 2 weeks of the academic year or intend to complete your current year of study, you only need to complete the transfer form.
Change of Programme request AFTER the first 2 weeks of the Academic Year and before week 30
In line with Academic Regulations for a Change of Programme request after the first 2 weeks of term means that a student would either need to complete their current level of study successfully or take a Leave of absence for the remainder of the academic year. If you are completing your current academic year, you may be eligible for an academic award i.e. Cert HE. If you need to take a Leave of Absence please click HERE for further information.
Change of Programme request AFTER week 30
In line with Academic Regulations for a Change of Programme request received after the end of week 30, the student would need to complete their current level of study successfully. The approval will depend on the student’s assessment board results.
